Introduction

After the end of World War II, Britain ended the Brooke dynasty which had ruled Sarawak for over a century and turned it into a Crown Colony ruled from London. This caused much unrest amongst the population who apparently liked their rajas, and led to the formation of secret groups with the aim of fighting against British rule.

The assassination of the Governor of Sarawak was carried out by one such group who used a young seventeen year old named Rosli bin Dhobi to carry out the murder.

He was hanged and has become a national hero but the story has a shocking twist as secret documents recently released by the British Government reveal that the group responsible were not nationalists fighting for Malay independence against the British, but were secretly fighting for the Indonesian government who wanted to take Sarawak for themselves.
